In August, FM’s Flooring Crew completed a flooring refresh of Geffen Academy’s first and second floor lobbies. Hoping to upgrade the space’s overall look, Operations Manager Michael Strazzeri approached FM. The goal was to craft a design that enhances the overall look of a welcoming lobby, while ensuring comfort for occupants.
Covering approximately forty percent of the space, four hundred yards of commercial carpeting was installed to reduce noise and provide a quite space where students can study or meet. Its deep navy-blue hue adds dimension and warmth; while the block of color compliments the white walls and bold-toned furniture.
Initially approved back in June, the project was not completed until August due to the Flooring Crew’s busy summer schedule. Consisting of Daniel Fregoso, Jose Ayala and Francisco Rodriguez, the crew worked for five days straight. To ensure the tight deadline was met, Supervisor Manny Santos enlisted the support of Night Crew members Juan Barba, Hugo Mena and Enrique Plaza with the removal of old adhesive residue by using a powered scraper for the entire space. It took another three days for the flooring to be prepped. Under Lead Flooring Installer Gerardo Morales, FM was able to take the project to completion in time to welcome the students back.
