Capital Programs commissioned FM with the installation of a special plaque in honor of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity’s Upsilon Chapter. Stationed near Bruin Walk next to Kerckhoff building, this tribute commemorates the establishment of the University of California Los Angeles Chapter.

The Sign, Sheetmetal and Mason Shops collaborated on the installation, which offered some challenges in the precise anchoring of the plaque onto the sign base. Sheetmetal Lead Filiberto Perez and Journeyman Eduardo Martinez fabricated a bracket to secure it. Next, the Sign Shop partnered with Mason Lead Randy Hill to set the foundation for the blade signs. Randy and Mason Rudy Blau added the finishing touch by laying out decomposed granite to adorn its surrounding. Sign Maker Lead Daniel Zavala, Journeymen Lars Peterson and Max Preciado organized the project. In summing up the job, Lars said, “In spite of many challenges, it was the expertise of all the crafts that made this installation a success.”
