UCLA Facilities Management’s Fire Alarm & Security Systems Shop recently achieved several important milestones that support campus safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Under the coordination of Fire Alarm Leads Perry Whitman and Frank Ibarra, the fire alarm team completed all mandatory preventive maintenance activities ahead of schedule. This achievement reflects the team’s commitment to maintaining reliable life-safety systems while minimizing disruptions to the campus community.

The Security Systems team also completed several high-profile camera upgrade projects at key locations, including UCPD, Powell Library, Royce Hall, Murphy Hall, and other critical campus areas. With support from the Electrical Construction and Electrical Maintenance Shops, Carlos Lopez, Ricky Lopez, and Royal Ward helped strengthen UCLA’s campus monitoring capabilities and overall security.

These accomplishments were made possible through strong teamwork, professionalism, and dedication. In recognition of their outstanding contributions, Manuel Campos, Robert Rojsutivat, and Sean Aldridge have been nominated for the Facilities Management STAR Award. Their efforts reflect the service mindset and commitment that help Facilities Management maintain a safe, secure, and compliant campus environment where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can thrive.
