The LED Retrofit team at Facilities Management is excited to announce the successful completion of the LED retrofit project in Young Hall Classroom 3069, a 535-square-foot general assignment classroom on UCLA's main campus.

Prior to the retrofit, the lighting quality in this classroom was subpar. Flickering and dim fluorescent lights created distractions, hindering an optimal learning environment. Recognizing the urgent need for an upgrade, Facilities Management has aimed to enhance the comfort of the room’s occupants and ensure a quality educational experience.

Upon receiving the retrofit request, our UCLA Energy Services team, in collaboration with the Electrical Shop, acted swiftly to implement an energy-efficient lighting solution.

With the installation of new LED tube lights, Classroom 3069 now benefits from superior visibility and clarity. The transition from fluorescent to LED lighting not only improves the overall ambiance but also significantly reduces energy consumption. Notably, the retrofit allowed us to cut the number of light fixtures by 50%, maximizing efficiency without compromising quality.

As a result of this upgrade, the classroom is projected to save approximately $1,300 annually in energy costs. This project exemplifies our commitment to providing UCLA’s staff and students with an enhanced Bruin learning experience while promoting sustainability across campus.
