The FM Paint Shop recently completed a project for the Athletics department that focused on a refresh of the Acosta building. Athletics requested repainting the public areas and a conference room.
From the onset, the job posed several challenges. Primarily, the desire paint hue, particularly royal blues, required up to 3 - 4 coats of paint to effectively cover the old coat. Further, the varying ceiling heights ruled out the use of a 20-foot ladder since there was nowhere to lean it against. To tackle this issue, the Paint Crew collaborated with the Electrical Shop in positioning a scissor lift. This enabled safe access while also ensuring high-quality outcome.
Spanning three weeks that required a team of four, the project called for meticulous planning and coordination between the Paint Shop and the client to navigate through areas with constant foot traffic. Ultimately, the client expressed great satisfaction with the outcome.
