Facilities Management continues to advance UCLA’s commitment to accessibility through a series of campus improvements designed to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all. As part of this effort, the Hardware Shop is installing ADA automatic door operators at four key campus locations: the CHS Breezeway, Biomedical Library, Physics and Astronomy, and Franz Hall.

The project reflects Facilities Management’s ongoing focus on removing barriers and improving access for students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities. By providing easier, hands-free entry to these buildings, the installations will help support greater independence and improve the overall campus experience.

Led by the skilled professionals in the Hardware Shop, the work showcases the critical role Facilities Management plays in maintaining and enhancing the campus environment. From accessibility upgrades to everyday infrastructure improvements, FM teams work behind the scenes to ensure UCLA facilities remain safe, functional, and accessible for everyone.

With an estimated investment of approximately $48,000, this project demonstrates UCLA’s continued dedication to ADA compliance and accessibility while highlighting the expertise and craftsmanship of Facilities Management staff.
