Recent storms highlighted the importance of maintaining the campus storm drainage system. Facilities Management Plumbing Shop responded to leaks, water intrusion, and drainage backups to help keep campus operations running smoothly.

At Dodd Hall, crews investigated recurring drainage issues and found a 5-inch storm drain compromised by extensive root intrusion. Working with the Grounds Department, the team excavated the area, replaced the damaged pipe, and installed a new cleanout for easier future maintenance. The Mason Shop then restored the concrete surface.

The Plumbing Shop also completed a major repair to a 10-inch storm drain serving the northeast portion of campus and the School of Law (pictured above). Root intrusion had caused backups affecting several classrooms and the law library. Crews excavated the damaged section and completed a permanent repair to restore proper drainage and reduce the risk of future disruptions.

These projects highlight the essential work of the Facilities Plumbing Shop and its collaboration with other Facilities teams to maintain safe, functional campus facilities for students, faculty, and staff.
